最近電影之中「宅」的極致代表就是【Hairspray】之中的肥媽Edna了！她在這個背景設在1962年的電影之中，竟然坦承從1951年之後就大門未出二門不邁了！真是非常具有「溫良恭簡讓」的美德呀！
他為了保護女兒，所以不願意她去拋頭露面，但是其實是怕世人因為女兒的外表而嘲弄她、傷害她……但是，Turnblad太太，你也太小看你女兒那巨大無比的樂觀了吧！簡直就是陽光到一個不行。所以，當女兒成功地如願在電視節目上跳舞的時候，這位宅娘也樂得在電視機前面手舞足蹈起來。他們家樓房的構造顯然比貝多芬家強多了。貝多芬在樓上彈個鋼琴，樓下就吵死了；在樓上沖洗一下，樓下就下小雨了。宅娘在樓上唱唱跳跳，樓下也沒有看見見鄰居反應，這個樓房顯然耐震指數比較高！
先不管John Travolta究竟在日常生活之中是說了什麼蠢話，但是他演出的這個Edna可是非常的可愛。肥嘟嘟地簡直就是Miss Piggy的放大版，然後又舉手投足之間流露出宅到不行但是還是很可愛的那模樣，尤其是女兒拉她去擔任代言服飾經紀人的時候，那種又期待又怕受傷害的無辜眼神。
Edna這個腳色傳統上總是要找男生來扮裝演出，舞台版本的就是鼎鼎大名Harvey Fierstein擔任演出〈火炬三部曲的男主角〉，所以找John Travolta也算是維持了這個傳統。在大螢幕上看著大山和小山一起跳動真是非常的有趣呢！
這一段戲，就是在小胖妞Tracy自從在電視上跳舞走紅之後，巴爾的摩市的服飾店老闆想要找她來替該服飾店的大尺寸服裝代言……Tracy於是找她的媽媽，也就是Edna一起去商談。但是Edna首先還是很害羞，因為怕人看見她的尺寸議論紛紛而不願意出門，於是Tracy唱出了「Welcome To The 60’s」這首歌來鼓舞Edna，最後終於說動了她，一起到了服飾店，從此，Edna也擺脫了原本「宅透了」的形象而搖身一變成為動感十足，舞蹈架勢十足的星媽。「女兒不僅是身材有遺傳到，她的歌唱舞蹈才華也是老娘傳授的啦！」的這種態勢！
